Obsidian Bowl | Decorative Bowl, Black Pottery | Nizamabad, Azamgarh

Handcrafted | Nizamabad, Azamgarh Terracotta Art

This handcrafted black pottery bowl features a broad, rounded form with a generously open mouth and a softly raised rim. Its low, balanced profile and gently curved walls create a simple yet sculptural silhouette that reflects the understated elegance of traditional Indian craftsmanship. The restrained form allows the deep black surface and natural texture of the clay to command attention.

The deep matte-black finish is achieved through the traditional smoke-firing technique practiced in Nizamabad, Azamgarh. The surface retains the subtle marks and texture of hand-shaped clay, giving the piece an organic character while preserving the rich obsidian tone associated with traditional Nizamabad black pottery.

Its wide rounded body, low profile, softly curved sides, and substantial rim create a timeless silhouette that fits seamlessly into contemporary as well as heritage-inspired interiors. Whether displayed as a standalone decorative accent or used to style dried botanicals, potpourri, or curated objects, the bowl brings quiet sophistication to consoles, dining tables, coffee tables, shelves, and curated living spaces.
